3-Strand, French & Dutch Braid Basics

While this class is beginner-friendly, we highly recommend taking our Intro to Hair Braiding workshop first — especially if you're brand new to braiding.

It covers key fundamentals like:
• What a braid is and why we braid
• Cultural significance
• Hand placement, tension drills, and prep
• Basic 3-strand technique

Taking Intro to Braiding first will help you feel more confident and get the most out of this session — especially as we move into more detailed styles like French and Dutch braiding.

We keep the base cost accessible so you can choose how you participate:

• Bring your own tools and materials
   

Or add-on a ready-to-use tool kit for convenience (optional)

• How to part and prep for clean braids
   

• Finger placement, grip, and control for 3-strand, French & Dutch styles
   

• Identifying tension and hand positioning issues
   

• Using clips and bands for clean sectioning
   

• Practice on self, others, or a mannequin

If you’re not purchasing an add-on kit, please bring:

• ✅ Mannequin stand or tripod

• ✅ Wide-tooth comb or detangling brush

• ✅ Sectioning clips (duckbill or similar)

• ✅ Small elastics or rubber bands

• ✅ Spray bottle (optional for damp parting)

• ✅ Mirror (for self-styling)

• ✅ Towel or table mat (for clean practice space)

• ✅ Notepad and writing utensils
